Photon Ring
Effective date: September 2, 2026
Photon Ring (“the game”) is developed and published by KiwiPear Studios LLC, 418 Broadway STE N, Albany, NY 12207, USA (“we”, “us”) — the data controller under UK and EU GDPR. This policy explains what data is collected when you play, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the game as distributed on the Apple App Store and Google Play. For our studio-wide privacy practices covering our website, see our studio privacy policy.
Summary
Photon Ring does not require an account and we do not operate our own servers. Your game progress is stored on your device. If you view or submit to a leaderboard, your score and achievement progress are shared with Apple Game Center or Google Play Games through your existing Apple or Google account — see below. A small number of third-party services we use to show ads, measure gameplay, and fix crashes collect limited device data, also described below. You can decline personalized ads at any time.
Data collected by third-party services
Advertising — Unity LevelPlay / ironSource
The game shows ads through Unity LevelPlay (ironSource, a Unity company). To serve and measure ads, this service may collect: device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS / Advertising ID on Android, only where permitted), IP address, device model and OS version, app version, coarse location derived from IP, and ad interaction data (views, clicks).
Personalized vs. generic ads: when you first launch the game you are asked whether your data may be used for personalized ads. If you decline, you will see non-personalized (contextual) ads instead. You can change this choice at any time in Settings → Personalized Ads. On iOS, the system App Tracking Transparency prompt additionally controls access to the advertising identifier.

Analytics — Unity Analytics
We use Unity Analytics (Unity Technologies) to understand how the game is played — for example, how long runs last, which difficulty modes are used, and whether ads and purchases function. Collected data includes: pseudonymous user and session identifiers, device model and OS version, country (from IP), and gameplay events (scores, run length, menu choices). We do not send your name, contacts, or precise location.

Crash reporting — Sentry
If the game crashes or encounters an error, Sentry collects a technical report: stack trace, device model, OS version, app version, and the device’s state at the time of the error. This is used solely to find and fix bugs.

Purchases — Apple App Store / Google Play
The game offers one optional purchase (“Remove Ads”). Payment is processed entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your payment details. A record that the purchase was made is stored on your device so the entitlement persists, and Unity’s purchasing service validates the transaction with the store.
Leaderboards and achievements — Game Center / Google Play Games
Tapping to view the leaderboard or unlocking an achievement submits your score or progress to Apple Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games (Android, where available), using your existing Game Center or Google Play Games account — not an account we create or control. This associates your score with your Apple or Google gaming profile and displays it, together with your public gaming alias, on a leaderboard visible to other players. We do not receive or store this data ourselves; it is handled entirely within Apple’s or Google’s own systems, under their own privacy policies.

Data stored on your device only
Game progress — high scores, unlocked skins, streaks, settings, and your consent choices — is saved in a local file on your device and is not transmitted to us. Deleting the app deletes this data (subject to your device’s standard backup behavior).
Your choices and rights
- Personalized ads: decline or withdraw consent anytime in Settings → Personalized Ads. On iOS you can also disable tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; on Android you can delete or reset your Advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
- Remove interstitial ads entirely via the in-app purchase.
- EEA/UK (GDPR): where consent is the legal basis (personalized ads), you may withdraw it as above. Non-personalized ads, analytics, and crash reporting rely on legitimate interest in operating and improving the game. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, to object to or restrict its use, to receive it in a portable format, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. For data held by the third-party services listed here, their policies describe their own mechanisms; you can also contact us and we will assist.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell personal information for money. Personalized advertising may constitute “sharing” of personal information under California law; use the Personalized Ads toggle above to opt out. Photon Ring’s current scale is well under the CCPA/CPRA applicability thresholds, so this law may not yet apply to us — we include this section on a voluntary, forward-looking basis.
Children
Photon Ring is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the third-party services above, contact us and we will work with those providers to delete it.
Data retention
We do not operate servers and retain no personal data ourselves. The third-party services above retain data according to their own published policies, typically for limited periods required for ad serving, analytics aggregation, and fraud prevention.
International data transfers
Every third-party service listed above — Unity/ironSource, Unity Analytics, Sentry, Apple, and Google — processes data in the United States. If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with data transfer requirements, these providers rely on safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses to permit this transfer; see each provider’s own privacy policy (linked above) for the specifics of how they handle it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy — for example, when adding a new service — we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will be noted in the game’s store listing release notes.
